Sandra Hurll MSDC - stitched textiles

"I make pieced and stitched wall pieces for interiors that are suitable for public and private settings. I show and sell my work in exhibitions throughout the year.

Trips abroad have inspired a love of indigenous aboriginal art, design ideas from Australia, Sub Sahara Africa and Oceania fill my sketchbooks. In addition, I regularly attend a design master class mentored by John Allen. These sessions stimulate, inspire and generate new ideas for future work.

These ideas metamorphose into compositions, often large scale, filled with vibrant colour.
I paint and print papers and fabrics, piece them together using hand and machine stitch, and when appropriate add less conventional materials.

I am currently experimenting with three dimensional, fabric sculpture/ambient light sources. Made from Lutradur, they are painted and decorated with stitch and applied fabric."
